HELEN'S KEEPING BLOOMING BUSY IN POOLE!
For the first time in many years, shoppers in Poole were treated to an extensive array of flowers sprouting from 110 lamp posts around Poole’s town centre. This seasonal riot of colour was organized by Helen Challis of Quay Living in her role as a volunteer director and paid for by Poole BID as part of its strategy to encourage trade in the Town. It has been a welcome addition to the town centre streetscape, and follows the inaugural Big Clean event that Poole BID organized back in May.
Says BID Director, Helen Challis; “We think the planters have given the Town Centre a real lift this year, but they’ve been months in the planning. We’ve had to identify suppliers, survey 110 lamp posts, tender the contract, arrange the fitting of planters, and agree a watering regime with the Borough, and then we had to wait for the plants to grow! Even that wasn’t straight forward - one consignment of our plants was involved in a pile-up on the M1 and was completely written off, so we had to wait for replacements. When I say I was pleased to see them up, I really was!”
